A Great Picture of H.O.P.E.
Single Mon Breaks the Internet with Law School Graduation Photos
Diannah Watson, BlackAmericaWeb.com
Isehia Champs a single mother of 5, has been through a lot in her life but has managed to come out on top with
the victory after achieving a dream she’s had since the age of 7.
Since she was 7-years-old Champs had the dream of someday
becoming a lawyer when circumstances made it very hard to get there, according to CBS News.
“I really didn’t have any stable guidance at that time.
My mom was addicted to drugs. My dad was deceased. And I was homeless,” explained Champs.
“I lived with friends or whoever would take me in.
Then I got pregnant with the first of my five children, and things just went from there.”
In the midst of it all, she received a call from her pastor telling her to go to school and get her law degree.
Still, she did go back to school and got her GED.
Then she went to Houston Community College and then the University of Houston-Downtown.
She’s now a senior at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law and will graduate in May.
To celebrate she had her senior pictures taken and included her children in them,
because if it weren’t for them, she believes she would never have made it.

"A Great Story of H.O.P.E."
“Woman invites police officer who once arrested her for drugs
to her College Graduation” By LINDSEY JACOBSON Apr 19, 2018, 10:26 AM ET
Now, Hall was back at police headquarters -- but this time to surprise Foster with an invitation to her graduation. "I wouldn't miss it for the world," Foster said, holding the invitation. When Jim Foster and Tiffany Hall last crossed paths five years ago, the lieutenant with the Long Beach Police Department was arresting her on drug charges. Now, the two have reunited -- to celebrate Hall's upcoming college graduation next month. Hall credits Foster with helping her turn her life around.
"He would encourage me all the time, "'Tiffany, you can do better than this.
Tiffany, why don't you try to go to school?
Tiffany, why don't you stop?'" she said.
"The biggest joy of my professional career is from time to time having contact with people who have found their way out of horrible circumstances and into life's success, things that a lot of us just take for granted for people who have a much rougher life story," Foster said.

April 1:
Devyn Holmes is shot in the head while a cell phone broadcasts his interactions with a woman and another man inside a a vehicle outside a Valero gas station on Almeda and Southmore in southwest Houston.
Holmes is sent to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition.
In the moments before the shooting, which was initially described as accidental, Holmes is heard on the Facebook Live video saying, "You're making me nervous."
The woman, identified as Cassandra Damper, allegedly fired the shot. Damper is eventually charged with aggravated assault with reckless serious bodily injury.

In the biggest stride in his recovery, Holmes is completely breathing on his own, according to his mother.
Sheree Holmes confirmed that the respirator was removed. She calls the progress amazing, but is also remaining reserved. Houston, Texas KTRK

"A Great Hero of H.O.P.E."
James Shaw, Jr.
The encounter left Shaw with a burn on his hand a wound on
his elbow where a bullet grazed it.
He bolted from his seat and slid along the ground to the restroom, he said. But he kept an eye and an ear out for the gunman. And the moment the shooter paused, Shaw decided to ambush him.
"I figured if I was going to die, he was going to have to work for it," Shaw told reporters Sunday.
He charged at the man with the rifle and they tussled for what felt like a minute, maybe two, Shaw said. His adrenaline was pumping as the gunman cursed and fought him, he said.
The barrel of the rifle was still hot when Shaw managed to wrestle it from the gunman, he said. He tossed it behind the counter and the gunman fled.
Four people were killed in the Sunday morning attack, and four others were wounded.
Law enforcement officials and customers said they had Mr. Shaw, a 29-year-old electrician, to thank for preventing greater bloodshed. But in the frenzied, dizzying hours since the attack, he has found the sudden and very public surge of respect and gratitude uncomfortable.

Dr. Breyinn Loftin, Ph.D.
Loftin, who got involved in research as an undergraduate, works on the synthesis and characterization of polymers for use in biomedical applications. “Polymer chemistry is very applications-based,” said Loftin, who cites that as one of the reasons she entered the field.
Breyinn Loftin, a Ph.D. student in chemistry, synthesizes and characterizes polymers for use in biomedical applications.
“My research focuses on 3D-polymer networks, also called hydrogels, which can be used in regenerative medicine applications,” Loftin said. Regenerative medicine is the science of using living cells to repair or replace diseased or damaged tissues.
“I am truly grateful and honored for this award,” said Loftin, who is advised by Eva Harth, professor of chemistry and director of the Welch Center for Excellence in Polymer Chemistry. This fellowship, which runs for three years, comes with a competitive stipend, an allowance for tuition, as well as additional professional development opportunities
“Hydrogels are biocompatible and their composition can be tuned both chemically and physically,” Loftin said. “This makes them ideal for use in regenerative medicine applications.”
One potential application for hydrogels would be as a replacement for articular cartilage, which is the type found in joints. When articular cartilage wears away, the result is arthritis.Breyinn Loftin, a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemistry, is the recipient of an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Widely considered to be one of the top honors a graduate student can receive, this fellowship is highly selective, with over 12,000 applicants this year for 2,000 awards.
Loftin is working on developing hydrogels and polymerization methods to tune the mechanical strength and elasticity of these gels. One of the major challenges for research in this area is designing materials that are biocompatible while possessing the necessary strength for its biological environment.

New Jersey Girl Hailed a Hero for Saving her classmates Life
At only 9 years old, an elementary school student from New Jersey is being hailed a hero for saving her choking classmate. Kori Scott knew exactly what to do. She put her friend against the railing and performed the Heimlich maneuver. During lunchtime at Bowser Elementary School, Kori Scott's best friend started choking on a burrito. Scott nearly choked herself when she was 3 years old and her rescuer saved her life by performing the Heimlich maneuver.
On Friday, the young hero will be mayor for the day and will even have a car service pick her up for her job at City Hall.
Now her parents have made sure she learned those same skills.
In a response to a reporters' question...who taught you the Heimlich maneuver?
Daddy taught me the Heimlich maneuver.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
Matthew 27:
57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
Matthew 28:6
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” (KJV)
John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned;
but he who does not believe is condemned already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light,
lest his deeds should be exposed.
21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen,
that they have been done in God.”
Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Revelations 1
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and
keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Revelations 22
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come.
And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
If any man shall add unto these things,
God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy,
God shall take away his part out of the book of life,
and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith,
Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen

SEEK WISDOM
The reader of the bible by faith will become a member of the group addressed as "WHOMSOEVER".
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:13
Reading the Bible is good but to study it is a blessing for the reader. There is nothing new under the sun but sitting on King Solomon's Porch you would hear him say;
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs 4:5-7
Wisdom is the correct use of the knowledge you have.
What are you doing with your knowledge that you have?
Seek Wisdom and wisdom will preserve you.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
1 Corinthians 13:13
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 24:24
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Psalm 139:14
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
"It's for You that beleive on Christ Jesus"
2 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
